Jiménez-Landi Wineries
A family estate located in the village of Méntrida itself, south of Madrid, at the foot of the Gredos mountains. With a long winemaking tradition, the estate has taken a new direction since its acquisition in 2004 by two cousins, Daniel and José , who have steered it towards organic farming and the production of true terroir wines .
Here, the terroir expresses itself through granitic sand soils, altitudes reaching 850 meters , and a flagship grape variety, Grenache . The old vines withstand long winters and hot summers and thrive on the approximately 350 mm of annual rainfall. The estate's 27 hectares are farmed organically , and some plots have been undergoing conversion to biodynamic farming since 2007.
The Jiménez-Landi family practice minimal intervention, vinifying without pumps and with gentle punch-downs, allowing indigenous yeasts to ferment freely. They use 500L barrels and larger for aging, minimizing oak influence on the wines and allowing the fruit and minerality of the terroir to fully express themselves. The final wines are protected with very moderate doses of SO2 (50 mg/L total SO2).
