Description

Sang de Corb is the signature cuvée of brothers Francesc and Joan Ferré. This wine pays homage to local history (the Battle of the Ebro) and the resilience of the family's old vines. Produced from the Dellà del Riu estate, this 2014 vintage expresses the full nobility of traditional Catalan grape varieties grown on "panal" soils (limestone sand and silt). It is a wine with character—authentic and unadorned—that has benefited from a long rest in the bottle to reach perfect harmony.

Sang de Corb comes from old vines over 65 years old located in Corbera d'Ebre, grown on poor limestone soils under a Mediterranean climate with dry influences, featuring Grenache Noir (Garnatxa Negra), Hairy Grenache (Garnatxa Peluda), and Carignan (Cariñena) farmed organically.

The three varieties are harvested and vinified together (co-fermentation) and then aged for 12 months in French oak barrels of 300 and 500 liters, followed by prolonged aging in the cellar.

The nose is complex and deep. It reveals notes of very ripe dark fruits, dried fig, and undergrowth, complemented by touches of cocoa, leather, and subtle oriental spices. The limestone minerality provides a very elegant "stone dust" sensation.

The wine has a beautiful texture on the palate while maintaining remarkable fluidity. The finish is long, with balsamic notes (menthol, eucalyptus) and brandied fruit.
