The San Vicente 2010 is a single-varietal Tempranillo Peludo , a rare and highly prized local variety known for its complexity. The grapes come from the La Veguilla vineyard , located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, a terroir renowned for its clay-limestone soils and unique microclimate , influenced by the Sierra Cantabria and the Ebro Valley.
The winemaking process is traditional and meticulous , with fermentation using indigenous yeasts , followed by a 21-day maceration for optimal extraction of aromas and tannins. This is followed by 24 months of aging in new French oak barrels , with regular racking to refine the structure.
The Eguren family, owners of the estate, is one of the most respected in Rioja, with five generations of winemakers dedicated to excellence and the expression of the terroir.
