Description
The Planella cuvée is often described as the ideal entry point into the fascinating world of the d'Anguera brothers. Located in the Montsant appellation, this wine is the result of a quest for freshness and purity. Less complex than its big brother L'Argata, but just as vibrant, the 2019 Planella prioritizes crunchy fruit and fluidity, offering a modern and easy-drinking interpretation of Mediterranean grape varieties.
Planella is made primarily from Cariñena (Carignan) complemented by Garnatxa (Grenache) grown using biodynamic farming. The vineyard is worked with total respect for biodiversity, on clay-limestone soils.
Vinified mostly with whole clusters to add tension, natural fermentation with indigenous yeasts in concrete tanks followed by aging for 12 months in used French oak barrels. The goal is to micro-oxygenate the wine without ever imparting woody aromas, in order to preserve the brilliance of the fruit.
The 2019 Planella is very expressive and floral. It releases aromas of fresh cherry, wild strawberry, and violet, underscored by notes of garrigue herbs and a touch of black pepper.
The palate is airy, carried by fine tannins and mouth-watering acidity that makes the wine extremely "glou-glou" (quaffable). It is a wine for immediate pleasure, balanced, and finishes on a mineral and refreshing note.
