Description
The Pierres Rouges 2025 from Léon Boesch takes its name from the pink sandstone hillsides where the Sylvaner vines for this cuvée are planted. A small 1ha plot, facing due south and cultivated using biodynamic farming, of course.
The grapes are harvested by hand, fermented in large wooden vats using indigenous yeasts, and the wine remains there until the next harvest.
The result is a Sylvaner with an elegant and complex nose, featuring notes of spice, white flowers, gunflint, thyme, and pomelo.
The palate is ample yet easy-drinking and joyful, supported by an elegant freshness that accompanies the wine through to its finish of greengage plum and mirabelle plum.
A thirst-quenching wine to be enjoyed with seafood, charcuterie (parsleyed ham, head cheese), fondue, cheese, raclette, or quiche; the perfect wine for impromptu meals!
