Description
The Cornaline 2016 cuvée is a work of patience and precision, resulting from a blend of Grenache, Syrah, and Cabernet Sauvignon. Farmed biodynamically on the clay-limestone soils of the Alpilles, the vines benefit from a Mediterranean climate tempered by altitude and the Mistral wind.
The 2016 vintage, remarkable for its balance, produced grapes with serene maturity. True to her philosophy, Dominique Hauvette opted for a long aging period of two years in large oak casks, followed by several years of rest in the bottle before release.
Visually, the wine displays a deep ruby color with slightly evolved reflections. The nose is complex, blending notes of jammy dark fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant) with hints of leather, truffle, and licorice. Garrigue herbs, such as thyme and rosemary, bring a wild, Southern dimension to this bouquet of great depth.
On the palate, Cornaline 2016 impresses with its structure and elegance. The attack is dense, revealing velvety texture and mastered concentration. The wine is supported by a mineral backbone and a saline freshness that give it great uprightness despite its richness. The tannins, perfectly polished by time, offer a grain of absolute finesse. The finish is endless, marked by sweet spices and an elegant bitterness.
