Description
Château Les Cruzelles 2020 is one of the essential benchmarks of the Lalande-de-Pomerol appellation. Located in Néac, at the gateway to Pomerol, this estate was brought to the highest level by the late Denis Durantou, an iconic figure of the Bordeaux Right Bank and owner of the legendary Château L’Église-Clinet. Today managed by his family, the estate produces wines that combine depth, elegance, and remarkable precision.
Born from a terroir of gravel and clay, the 2020 vintage is crafted from 80% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Franc. The grapes, harvested by hand at perfect maturity, benefited from the vintage's excellent conditions, resulting in a wine that is at once concentrated, fresh, and perfectly balanced. The aging process takes place in French oak barrels, with approximately 50 to 60% new wood, adding complexity and finesse without masking the expression of the fruit.
The nose reveals an intense bouquet of black cherry, blackcurrant, blackberry, and ripe plum, accompanied by notes of violet, licorice, blond tobacco, and graphite. Upon aeration, spicy and slightly smoky nuances enrich an already very expressive aromatic palette.
The palate seduces with its velvety texture, controlled density, and the finesse of its tannins. Black fruit takes center stage, supported by a beautiful freshness and an elegant structure that bestow depth and length. The finish, persistent and harmonious, reveals notes of cocoa, licorice, and ripe black fruits.
Already very seductive today after a light aeration, this Lalande-de-Pomerol also possesses excellent aging potential. It will pair perfectly with a rib steak, duck breast, rack of lamb, or aged cheeses.
