Description
El Castro de Valtuille Barrica 2018 – Castro Ventosa Signed by the Pérez family and the talented Raúl Pérez, this cuvée is a masterful gateway into the world of Bierzo. Made primarily from Mencía sourced from 60- to 80-year-old vineyards on the sandy soils of Valtuille de Abajo, it benefits from careful aging for 12 months in French oak barrels.
The nose is an invitation to indulgence with its notes of wild berries, violet, and subtle touches of sweet spices and graphite. On the palate, the wine surprises with its "Burgundian" elegance: the texture is fluid, the tannins are remarkably silky, and a vibrant acidity stretches out a long, mineral finish.
This is a harmonious and profound red wine that will pair perfectly with grilled red meat, a platter of Iberian charcuterie, or mushroom risotto. Best served between 14°C and 16°C.
