Vitatge Vielh 2021 - Lapeyre

Vitatge Vielh 2021 - Lapeyre

Jurançon dry - White - 13.5 % -

Clos Lapeyre is located on the hillsides of Chapelle de Rousse, where Jean-Bernard Larrieu has been cultivating his vines organically for 20 years. Formerly a mixed farm (strawberries, cows and vines), the vines now dominate the 18 hectares of the estate, planted on terraces.

The grapes come from three plots of land on the Domaine de Nays, ranging in age from 60 to nearly 100 years. The three main grape varieties are interplanted, with a majority of Gros Manseng, approximately 30% Petit Manseng, and 5 to 10% Courbu. Just like an old fruit tree, an old vine better regulates its vigor and production, resulting in more flavorful and delicious fruit.

After slow pressing, the lightly clarified juices ferment in demi-muids (600 l) aged 1 to 8 years and recent Stockinger foudres. 1 year on lees with stirring in barrels and casks and 6 months in blending tanks before being bottled after 2 winters.
Vitatge Vielh 2021 from Clos Lapeyre has a rich, ripe nose with notes of candied fruit. The palate is ample, very expressive, spicy, with a beautifully smooth structure and toasty notes. A lovely, open, rich, full-bodied, and balanced wine, ripe and complex.
