San Vicente 2018
Rioja - Red - 14.5 % - 75 cL
The 2018 San Vicente is a single-varietal Tempranillo Peludo , a rare and highly prized local variety known for its complexity. The grapes come from the La Veguilla vineyard , located in San Vicente de la Sonsierra, a terroir renowned for its clay-limestone soils and unique microclimate , influenced by the Sierra Cantabria and the Ebro Valley.
The winemaking process is traditional and meticulous , with fermentation using indigenous yeasts , followed by a 21-day maceration for optimal extraction of aromas and tannins. This is followed by 24 months of aging in new French oak barrels , with regular racking to refine the structure.
The Eguren family, owners of the estate, is one of the most respected in Rioja, with five generations of winemakers dedicated to excellence and the expression of the terroir.
The nose is complex and elegant , with aromas of ripe red and black fruits (black cherry, blackberry, plum), sweet spices , eucalyptus and tobacco , roasted touches (coffee, cocoa, vanilla), dried flowers and a subtle minerality and aromas of fine wood.
The attack is powerful and velvety , with a silky tannic structure and fresh acidity . The flavors evolve towards candied fruits (black cherry, prune), spices and licorice.
A long, persistent and balanced finish , marked by notes of wild fruits , cocoa and a touch of lactic acidity.
