The wines of Raúl Pérez and his bodega Castro de Valtuille , in the Bierzo region (northwest Spain), are among the most expressive and personal in the country.
They perfectly reflect the artisanal philosophy of the Galician winemaker: absolute respect for the terroir, working with old vines, vinification by plot, and minimal use of wood.

From a single plot in the El Rapolao cru, north of Bierzo, this 100% Mencía wine comes from old vines rooted in clay-iron and schist soils .
Made from whole bunches and aged for 12 months in used barrels, El Rapolao 2015 expresses the freshness and verticality typical of this cool and shaded terroir.

A subtle nose of black cherry , violet flower , graphite and fine spices .
Straight, slender mouthfeel, with precise tannins and marked mineral tension.
A saline and elegant finish, of exemplary purity.
