Description
Domaine Chermette is a family-run winery dating back to the 17th century, located in Saint-Vérand, in the Southern Beaujolais region. Taken over in 2023 by Jean-Etienne Chermette, the estate combines tradition with modernity to produce quality wines while innovating with new grape varieties (Pinot, Viognier, Syrah) and modernizing the estate's image.
Brouilly is the southernmost of the Beaujolais crus; it is located in the heart of the vineyard and has a quintessential Beaujolais character. The Domaine Chermette plot, situated at the foot of Mont Brouilly, is made up of granitic scree resulting from the erosion of this hill, which gives this wine a straight and pure structure on the palate.
Manual harvesting, traditional Beaujolais vinification with a semi-carbonic whole-cluster maceration using indigenous yeasts. This is followed by 6 to 8 months of aging in old oak foudres.
Initially, the nose is floral, with notes of violet, then deep aromas of ripe fruit gradually reveal themselves.
The palate is both fine and fleshy. Beautiful, pure and straight texture built on round tannins. The finish is long and fresh.
