Nut 2019 - Clos du Jaugueyron

Nut 2019 - Clos du Jaugueyron

Margaux - Red - 13.5 % - 75 cL

  • Organic, Biodynamic

Clos du Jaugueyron is not a Château as one is used to seeing in the Médoc region of Bordeaux; it is 16 vineyard plots spread across 3 communes in the Haut-Médoc and Margaux, gradually acquired by Stéphanie Destruhaut and Michel Théron since 1993, which today comprise 7.3 hectares. All the vines are cultivated using organic and biodynamic farming methods.

The 2019 Nout from Clos du Jaugueyron is made from Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon grapes grown in the commune of Arsac, within the Margaux appellation. Vinification takes place in cement and stainless steel tanks, with no additives other than a very small dose of sulfur. This is followed by 12 months of aging in mostly new oak barrels, and then a final transfer to stainless steel tanks.

Aromas of ripe black fruits (blackberry, blackcurrant, plum), elegant floral notes, subtle woody/cedar touches, a hint of graphite. Subtle notes of licorice and pepper emerge after opening, along with a certain freshness despite the ripe character.

Dense yet elegant. Good tannins, well-structured but not excessive, with a lovely breadth. The Merlot brings roundness, the Cabernet provides structure and tension. A balance between power and finesse. You can sense the substance but also a freshness and easy drinkability.
