Haitza 2022 - Arretxea

Located in Irouléguy , in the heart of the Basque Country, Domaine Arretxea is a pioneer of biodynamics in the southwest.
The vines, planted on soils of red sandstone, schist and limestone , give rise to wines of remarkable purity , where energy, mineral tension and aromatic depth mingle.
The reds made from Tannat, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon reveal a rare balance between power and freshness; the whites, made from Gros Manseng, Petit Manseng and Courbu , offer brightness and finesse.

The estate's iconic vintage, Haitza (“the rock” in Basque) comes from the oldest vines planted on red schist .
A blend predominantly of Tannat with a little Cabernet Franc , this wine is a masterful expression of the Irouléguy terroir: deep, structured and vibrant.

Complex nose of blackberry , blackcurrant , spices , smoke and minerality .
Dense and precise mouthfeel, carried by superb tension, polished tannins and a long stony finish.
A great wine for aging, both wild and refined.
