Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Les Fontenys 2015 from Domaine Joseph Roty is a powerful, deep and elegant red Burgundy wine, one of the jewels of Roty's production.
Les Fontenys is one of the most renowned vineyard sites in Gevrey-Chambertin, located in the Côte de Nuits , north of the Grands Crus. The clay-limestone soils of the Combe de Lavaux alluvial fan give this wine depth, a solid tannic structure and a subtle minerality .
This 2015 reveals an expressive nose , where aromas of cherry, wild strawberry, delicate spices and floral notes mingle, enhanced by a mineral touch and a light integrated woodiness.
On the palate, the wine is deep and structured , with concentrated substance, fine but present tannins, and perfectly balanced acidity that provides length and tension . The finish is long and vibrant, reflecting the Premier Cru terroir.
