Claire 2023 - Little Nail of the Winds

Claire 2023 is the skin-contact cuvée from Sylvain Jougla, a winemaker based in Soumensac, in the Côtes de Duras region. This Vin de France is crafted from Sauvignon Blanc, a grape variety that takes on an expression here quite different from that of classic white wines from the Southwest. Grown using organic farming methods, it yields an orange wine that is aromatic, textured, and full of freshness.

Skin maceration gives the wine its amber color, as well as more substance and structure. The warmer 2023 vintage produces a particularly generous cuvée, with beautiful fruit richness and tannins that provide structure on the palate.

The nose opens with citrus, candied fruits, and yellow-fleshed fruits, with notes of orange peel and a floral touch. On the palate, the substance is ample and expressive, with a slightly tannic texture and a pleasant bitterness that adds freshness. The long, saline finish evolves into notes of licorice and a subtle hint reminiscent of Armagnac.

A gourmet, deep, and original orange wine, to be served chilled. Its texture and aromatic palette make it a wonderful companion for spicy cuisine, smoked fish, poultry with spices, or aged cheeses.
