Chaveyron 1422, 2017 - Domaine Saladin

"Chaveyron 1422" 2017 comes from a historic plot of the Domaine Saladin, acquired in 1422 by Raymond Saladin in Saint-Marcel d'Ardèche.

A predominantly Syrah blend with a tiny touch of Viognier (5%), hand-harvested, they are vinified together using indigenous yeasts, then aged in barrels for 9 months.

The 2017 "Chaveyron 1422" reveals intense aromas of black fruit (blackberry, blackcurrant) with spicy notes (pepper, licorice), and sometimes a floral touch imparted by the Viognier. The palate is quite structured with well-integrated yet present tannins, a balance between richness, depth, and freshness. Silky texture, persistent finish.
