Description
The Avize Champ Caïn 2004 is one of the iconic single-vineyard cuvées from Maison Jacquesson. This Grand Cru Blanc de Blancs comes from a single lieu-dit in Avize, in the Côte des Blancs, where the Chardonnay was planted in 1962. Located at the bottom of the hillside, the plot rests on a chalk terroir that gives the wine its remarkable tension and saline character.
The 2004 vintage, considered particularly successful in Champagne, resulted in a precise and balanced wine. After several years of aging, the nose reveals notes of white flowers, citrus, and chalk, joined by more developed nuances of truffle and toasted notes. The palate is straight, delicate, and deeply saline, with a chalky texture and a long, crystalline finish.
Disgorged in 2013 from the classic batch, with a particularly low dosage of 1.5 g/l, this Champagne now possesses beautiful maturity while retaining the energy and freshness characteristic of the Avize terroir. It is a gastronomic Champagne, better suited for the table than for a simple aperitif.
