West of my South 2023 - Little Nail of the Winds

A l'Ouest de mon Sud 2023 is one of the wines produced by Sylvain Jougla, based in Soumensac near Duras. It is made exclusively from Merlot vines aged between 15 and 45 years, planted on clay-limestone soils, cultivated using organic and biodynamic farming methods, and harvested by hand.
After destemming, the grapes macerate in resin tanks for 15 days. The grapes are worked by manual punch-downs. After pressing and blending the free-run and press juices, the wine is aged for 8 months in resin tanks.

A l'Ouest de mon Sud reveals aromas of black fruit mingling with spicier notes and a floral touch. The palate is remarkably fresh yet balanced, with tannins that are nonetheless quite present.
